Purple People

Most people don't know about indigo children, haven't heard of them or simply don't believe they exist. I personally only first heard of them last year, and even then I was amazed by the concept.

The idea was based on the new age concepts developed in 1970 by Nancy Ann Tappe, who developed the idea of the Eastern and Western traditions combined to create a unified worldview that contains both science and spirituality.
Indigo children were depicted as the 'new generation' of the 'new age' that would bring about the change to our society.

The idea only really took off in the 1990s after countless movies, books and studies had been draw around the existence of Indigo children, their abilities and nature. The beliefs mainly evolved around these children being part of next stage in the human evolution process, where these people are simply born stronger and more intelligent than their peers.
By the year 2000, Indigo children were recognized by authors as children with a lot of empathy, curiosity and strong willingness. They were said to be totally independent and could be seen by friends and family as being strange or having a clear sense of purpose, often going against the flow and being almost abnormally smarter or more talented than everyone else.

Today critics say the idea is all a mock up, with less than no valid scientific research and used to make quick money on books and publications or as a hide up for parents who refuse to admit their children are ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).

However the truth in my eyes inevitable, We as the younger generation are a hell of a lot smarter than our parents, and we seem to be able to do a heck of a lot more. Come on - admit it, how many times have you being doing homework while social networking? Or skimming between multiple Internet pages while holding a conversation with someone less? We multitask on a number of different levels and enhance so many different skills that it's no wonder we can be seen as more talented and intelligent than the generation of yesterday.
So we may not be a new evolution step but we are all different and the world needs people that are different to try a pull it out of it's rut...

By rut you understand I'm talking about the global issues we face - namely Global warming, massive crime (I need not continue)

I suggest we all join together as old and young, big and small, tall and short, purple and green, to share ideas and stories and develop together to become the 'indigo children' or Purple People of tomorrow.
