In tune with the stars

People have been looking at the stars forth a  very long time, thousands of years. Long before calenders and clocks were invented, STARS helped people to know the time of the year and to find their way when travelling long distances. Farmers looked at the stars to know when it was time to plant and harvest crops.

People all over Africa knew the constellation Pleiades (said 'play-deez'). When it appeared in the night sky, it was timo to start hoeing and planting. Xhosa farmers called it isiLemela the 'digging' stars.

Start DIGGING!!! ;)
